BioWelcome to the little corner of the Meandering Musicologist!
Honestly, when I originally signed up for this thing it was for the sole purpose of keeping up to date with my friends journals who locked their entries. In addition, I didn't want to always have to type in the URL of all my friends journals which were public. I don't have all the time in the world for that sort of thing. Eventually though, this became a place for me to just write and keep everyone up to date, as well as a sort of therapy for myself.
I'm currently a Psychology major set to finish my degree this coming spring (2010). My dream is to pursue counselling with children who have physical and sensory disabilities, although throughout the last little while, I have been leaning more towards visual impairment, as this is what I have the most experience in. All people deserve to live in a world where they are not discriminated against because of their disability, and where they can be seen for who they are as a person. Breaking down the stereotypical walls and biases begins in childhood, and as a counsellor I hope that somehow I can aid in this process. This would involve going to graduate school and getting a MA and possibly P.h.D in order to fully practice my craft.
I also love french and hope to be fluent in it eventually. I will graduate with a minor in it when I graduate with my BA.
Music is another passion of mine, I especially love playing it. I play the piano and flute, and sing occasionally. I love songwriting. Often times I struggle to contain the elusive melodies that creep into my subconsciousness, however I have also managed to tame these melodies and sometimes get rid of them all together. The amazing power of the mind. I had hoped to expand my instrument repertoire by taking acoustic guitar, but alas. Finding time and energy to devote to this pleasure has not been easy being in school. I would also love to learn violin some day.
I would like to think that my enduring qualities are loyalty, patience, honesty, sincerity, commitment and reliability, but I cannot be the judge in such matters.
Many people wonder about the origins of LJ usernames, myself included. For me, it is my love of music combined with my passion for psychology, hence themusicologist.
That's me, in a nutshell.
Oh and by the way, I'm friends only here, so don't expect to be added unless I know you in person, I know you well, or you've found a place in my heart, in which case consider yourself to be extremely priveleged.
